This bass was the top of the line offering from the "Project Series" of instruments in the 1978 catalog. This model is the higher end model produced to be a replica of the bass that Paul McCartney was playing at the time with Wings and on solo records. A fantastic, high end example of Japan's best era of guitar and bass production.
This model features a solid Maple body with a 3 piece maple through neck just like the originals. This bass came to the shop pretty beat up but we did a thorough job restoring and conditioning it back to the best condition possible. There is a good amount of wear and tear on the bass with various dings and dents around the instrument but it is in perfect playing condition with fully working electronics, low action and plenty of fret left. There is pitting and wear of the metal hardware, but nothing out of the ordinary for a nearly 50 year old instrument.
The bass came to the shop with all original hardware, but was missing a neck pickup and the associated electronics. We decided to go with the amazing Nordstrand Nordenbocker pickup in the neck for a thick yet clear neck tone that pairs really well with the original high output bridge pickup. The electronics were replaced with high quality Alpha pots and high quality film caps for optimum operation and tone.
Overall this bass makes an amazing player grade workhorse of an instrument and gives you all of the classic tones and quality you know from this style bass and would make a great addition to any players arsenal of instruments!
