1979 Ibanez 2681 Bob Weir Model
1979 Ibanez 2681 Bob Weir Model
This 1979 Ibanez 2681 Professional Bob Weir Edition is a beautifully well preserved example of one of the nicest guitars Ibanez ever made. Made to the specs of Bob Weir from the Grateful Dead, this guitar is the much more rare version of the 2680 Bob Weir model. Solid Ash body with 3 piece maple neck, ebony fingerboard and tree of life pearl inlay. has all original hardware and electronics including the amazing sounding Super 80 "Flying Fingers" humbuckers and the pearl button tuners. there is virtually no fret wear to speak of.
This guitar was bought new by the original owner in 1979 and has remained with him until I acquired it earlier this year. The guitar was obviously well cared for as it is in amazing condition for its age with only some minor dings to be seen. the hardware and pickup covers show some tarnishing and there is some binding cracking and discoloration that is common with nearly every 70s ibanez, but it is stable and non of it is fragile or flaking. The owner made one modification by moving the strap button from the horn to the back of the guitar so the original hole remains in the underside of the horn.
