This is a fantastic mid 70s Les Paul Deluxe “Standard Conversion” guitar.  I don’t see these too often but they are incredible guitars. Gibson didn’t make a Les Paul Standard model in 1975 (officially reintroduced in 1976) but the Les Paul Deluxe models routed for Humbuckers could be factory-ordered or produced in small runs essentially turning it into a Les Paul Standard.  Still stamped “Les Paul Deluxe” on the back of the headstock but factory routed for full-size Gibson T-Top Humbuckers, this is a great example of one of those special orders. These transitional-era instruments are becoming increasingly appreciated for exactly this reason.

this particular guitar is a great example of a Norlin-era Les Paul.  solid weight, a lively acoustic response, and forward midrange presence.

The pickup combination that makes it especially versatile. The original T-Top in the bridge delivers clear, articulate vintage tone, while the DiMarzio Super Distortion in the neck adds a thicker, more aggressive voice that works great with the bridge.

Condition-wise, this is very much a player-grade instrument with honest wear throughout. The finish shows checking, dings, and natural aging that give it a ton of character. At some point in its life, an additional switch was added near the controls and has since been filled, along with a few small filled holes on the back. Importantly, there are no headstock breaks or major structural repairs.

It has been professionally refretted in recent years and plays extremely well. This is a well played, yet well cared for instrument that feels comfortable and “broken in” the minute you start playing it.

It comes with the original Gibson hard case, which remains in good, functional condition.
